The new school year is here, which means it’s time to get the PTA back together and we’d love to see some new faces!
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on:
Thursday 10 September 2026
7.30pm–8.30pm
Whickham School, Sixth Form Block
We’ll be looking back at everything the PTA achieved during the 2025/26 academic year, as well as talking about what’s coming up this year.
It’s also a great opportunity to find out a little more about what we do and how you could get involved.
Never been to a PTA meeting before?
That’s absolutely fine!
You don’t need to have been involved with the PTA before, and you don’t have to walk through the door ready to take on a huge commitment.
You can simply come along, listen, ask questions and find out more.
We’ll also have a Google Meet option available for anyone who can’t make it in person. The link will be shared through our social media channels and class WhatsApp groups nearer the time.
We’re looking for a new Treasurer
One of our current vacancies is for a PTA Treasurer.
Could this be you?
You don’t need to be a qualified accountant. The role is about helping us keep track of the PTA’s finances and making sure our fundraising can continue to support the school and its children.
If you’re organised, reliable and happy to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
Our insurers, Parentkind, have put together a useful guide explaining the purpose, responsibilities and qualities needed for the main PTA roles.

You don’t have to join the committee
We know that everyone’s circumstances are different, so there are lots of ways to get involved.
You could:
- Join the PTA as an ordinary member
- Come along to meetings when you can
- Help out at events
- Join our casual volunteer group
- Support our fundraising
- Help with a specific project or activity
Even an hour here and there can make a real difference.
PTA meeting dates for 2026/27
Our meetings are generally held on a Thursday from 7.30pm–8.30pm at the Sixth Form Block, Whickham School.
A Google Meet option will also be available.
